La Loge Sagrolle | large country gite in the heart of rural France

Guest review from July 2014

I have just spent 8 weeks at La Loge Sagrolle and having been home a week am already missing the house, the country, the location, the people and my time.

What a well equipped home with all the comforts you need. The master suite is excellent and all other bedrooms very well presented with bathrooms and towels a plenty.

The living space is huge - I did not use everything to its maximum as I spent most of my time outside and as friends and family came and stayed we swam, played games, ate and drank.

The kitchen has everything you need and was the heart of the house and the adjoining utility room provided good storage and washing facilities and pool towels.

The gardens and pool were relaxing and enjoyable and many an hour was spent relaxing here.

This is a quiet and idyllic spot with easy access to many sights, cities, towns, villages and chateaus so for those that want more to do there is the ability to get out and about.

You will need a car but the local village is about a 5 min drive for fresh croissant and bread daily. I have already enquired about next year and will confirm something soon so if you miss this one - its your fault for deliberating!

Guest review from 4th Sept 2013

After spending five days at Disneyland Paris, it was lovely to travel down to the Loire Valley and be greeted by Debi and John. The gite had everything we could have possibly needed and suited us all. Our three children were happy (ages 16, 14 & 7) as there was something for all of them to do. The Wifi was a must with teenagers!! It was great to be able to use the bikes to explore the local countryside. The nearby swimming lake was beautiful and we spent two afternoons there. Debi and John were extremely helpful and provided us with everything we could want. We had two lovely evenings chatting with them with a glass (or two) of wine :). We found a week wasn't quite long enough to fully appreciate the surrounding area and have time to relax, as such we are booking again for two weeks next summer. We are all looking forward to coming back

Guest review 26th August 2013

We found the ideal place for our four grown up children, their partners and our little grandson, to just relax and enjoy themselves. We rarely strayed from the large, beautiful garden because it had everything we needed. They played badminton, table tennis, boulle, water volleyball and many more games ; I was able to relax as I knew their shouts and sky larking would not disturb anybody.I basked in the sun and read my book. The house was really well equipped and achieved the good balance of smart yet comfortable. It was great to have all bedding and towels provided as some of our party flew to France with just hand luggage. It was also great to have a washing machine and tumble drier at our disposal. All in all a super place to stay.

Guest review from 16th August 2013

We'd never ventured deep into France before but were attracted by the look and feel of La Sagrolle and the promise of some relaxing downtime mixed with enough to do with a really comfortable and attractive place to stay. We weren't disappointed. Debi, John and Caity were lovely friendly hosts, leaving us to do our own thing but on hand to help and chat through excursion ideas at any time.

The art classes were perfect for our 2 teenage girls and this kept them happy together with days out to chateaux and the nearby lake (15-20 mins drive) complete with pedaloes, and an amazing "Go Ape" set up. The cottage was light and airy and very well equipped with great showers and really comfortable and ample accommodation.

There really is so much to see within an hours drive that we were left realising that the week we had booked was nowhere near enough. If you're a fairly keen cyclist, the roads are a joy. The country roads are wide enough, pretty well traffic free and there's a sunflower field or some quaint houses around every corner and enough hills and bends to keep it interesting. Very little light pollution means the night sky is stunning especially for city dwellers like us. For the uninitiated France is big, very big and i reckon the journey from Purley in Surrey to the cottage was about 550 miles. Sounds pretty daunting but we managed it easily enough in a day even though we didn't get a ridiculously early slot on the tunnel. We left at 8.30 on the way home and had enough time to stop off in Boulogne for an hour which still gave us plenty of time to check in for our 5.20 crossing home. All in all a great success and thoroughly recommended.

"A perfect rural retreat"

We had such a lovely holiday at La Loge Sagrolle. It was truly a home from home with every comfort you could want.

It's well furnished and its spacious. We wanted a holiday to get away from a hectic lifestyle and it was perfect for that. The owners are lovely, they are on hand if you need anything but don't intrude.

We had small children in our group and the garden was perfect for them. My son in law is already talking of booking again for next year. Bikes are provided if you want to cycle on the local lanes. If you want peace and quiet and a remedy to 21st century city life this place is perfect.
